Living as terrestrial beings, humans often think of nature as linear scenes spanning horizon to horizon. A wider reality was revealed when mankind began to look upward, where civilizations contemplated a universe outside of our familiar reality but one still connected to nature. On a planet rich with life, humans now discover oceans of cosmic emptiness, stellar objects incomparable in size, yet barren, lifeless, and remote. Nature must be redefined in that context.
