"Things don't have to be a fucking masterpiece"

This series deals with the spontaneity of drawing, the medium's portability and our almost instinctual nature to create drawings when bored, in between events, or when entertaining any variety of thoughts and feelings. The series title refers to the fact that artists so often strive to create the ultimate work for the world. I'd like to poke fun at this notion and dismiss such thoughts. Perfection can be overrated, let alone, unobtainable. These drawings focus on immediacy; moments of creativity in a wake of routine, work obligations and meetings. The purpose is to downplay the self importance that artists give their work. The struggle comes from the balancing of that non-importance against the elevated status the work later achieves when displayed and presented in some visual setting.
